Astronomy - The Wonder No one Talks About

All of us have wondered, one way or the other, our purpose in life. Some of us spend hours and hours, wondering about our meaning and purpose in life. A question that makes us scratch our heads, no matter who we are - "Why was I born? What is the true purpose of my life? What is my destiny?"

The journey that we embark upon, in the 70-80 years of our life is spent seeking the answer to that question. The answer varies from one person to another. All of us are different, yet we are all the same, in one way or the other. As Carl Sagan famously quoted, we are all, indeed, made of stardust !

Our collective journey began some 14 billion years ago, which has been calculated by scientists around the world, to be the current age of our beautiful universe. We all originated from the same place - the universe, and yet, the scientific branch that holds the key to understanding our origins, Astronomy, is the one wonder no one talks about.

Astronomy is a beautiful domain that talks about everything in outer space, in detail. It tells us about the universe, the galaxies, the solar systems and the planets, stars, black holes and what not. Most importantly, it tells us about our origin. It gives us a way to know more about ourselves. We are nothing but a physical embodiment of the universe itself. We are the universe exploring itself. Yet, no one talks about it.

We often think about our lives, the direction in which they are going; our daily struggles, the small guilty pleasures in eating sweets, the sorrows and heartbreaks when we do not get our dream job etc. We do all this to find out our purpose and origin. We do all this to answer the questions - Who am I? Where did I come from? Where is my destiny? The answers lie in the domain of astronomy, yet no one talks about it.

Strange, isn't it? We spend all our lives seeking the answers to these questions, when they've been with us all the time. Try to think about that !
